What is Labor Day about?
“Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”
LABOR DAY weekend…means…last time for summer get-togethers with friends and family over a cuisine of the traditional fare…barbecue…cocktails…cold beers…and, of course, dessert!
Watermelon Mojito recipe can be found on my blog post here.
Last few days to enjoy time at the beach or poolside.
My sister Edwina and her husband Fred introduced me to this fun and easy dessert called Sopapillas. I posted this recipe some time ago, (2/12/10), which is worth reposting. It’s so easy to put together and you will be crowned ‘genius’ for making it. It’s that good.

NO TIME to make this dessert…stop by RITA’s for a great custard treat.
My favorite is Lemon Gelati. It’s a layering of Italian Ice and creamy Frozen Custard.
SO GOOD!
